Beaux Geer
A Native Of Louisiana Leaves A Legacy In His Work
BEAUX GEER (James E. Geer: 1964 - 2011)
Artist Beaux Geer leaves a beautiful legacy in his paintings. A native of Lafayette LA, his love of the arts began as a child, even his finger painting in Kindergarten showed promise, as his pictures were three-dimensional. This is unusual as most children up to about 3rd grade draw/paint in only two dimensions. He won his first award as an artist in 2nd grade in a local newspaper contest.
When his mother's job transferred her to Dallas in 1977, he became a Louisiana transplant and proceeded to win an Honorable Mention at the State Fair of Texas his first year in the area. But awards were not why he painted. He painted for himself from some deep-seated desire inside to express himself on canvas. His paintings give us a view into his passionate soul.
While Beaux did occasionally do some commission pieces or as part of a design job, most of his work was found in his home. A fortunate few also received paintings as gifts,

With an innocent sweetness of spirit, one of his dreams was to impact his world in a positive way through his love of art. To that end he founded a non-profit association, Healing Texas Through the Arts (HTTA). His desire was to recognize new artists and utilize the arts as a method of bringing the public together : bridging the gaps between political, religious and ethnic diversity in the hope that through the various art forms we can somehow overcome our differences and come together as a community in support of the arts.
Though his passing has left a big hole in a lot of hearts, his family, friends, colleagues and clients have come together in an effort to continue and realize his dream. All of his original work (held in trust by his family) has been dedicated to HTTA. His family and close friends are introducing his work and offering limited edition prints in order to help fund HTTA, with a goal of setting up an annual scholarship to be awarded to a graduating high-school senior who plans to go to college and make a career in the arts Additionally, HTTA plans to host exhibitions to introduce new/unknown artists to communities across the country.
Beaux left us much too soon but those of us who were fortunate enough to have been touched by this talented and generous young man, have been blessed as you will be by his everlasting legacy.
On October 20, Razzle Dazzle will hold a special event here in the store honoring Beaux, his life, his work, and the members of the foundation "Healing Texas" through the Arts which will be using funds raised at this event to provide money for art scholarships. We welcome your participation in this special event and hope that you will be able to attend. See more about this event on the Home Page on the Razzle Dazzle web site.
